Rapper Blaqbonez has spoken out yet again about how some musicians may remain in the top 20 despite not having their songs heard. In an interview with Cool FM 96.9, Chocolate City rapper Blaqbonez explained how anonymous musicians are maintaining a top 20 position without the help of fans or listeners who legitimately push these songs up the charts.
The rapper is now on a media tour following the successful release of his hit song Ice Spice. He claims that stream farms help numerous musicians who constantly rank between 10th and 20th on Nigeria’s Apple Music Top Songs chart.
Following the conversation between musicians bnxn fka Buju and Ruger, conversations about streaming farms took over social media trends in 2022. The emergence of this dishonest practice, which is widespread around the world but was previously believed to be absent in Nigeria, has artists and music lovers worried.
Using streaming farms, labels and artists can fraudulently inflate the number of streams they receive on sites like spotify and Apple Music. These practices confuse audiences and give certain musicians a false sense of popularity.
Because of this, musicians with little actual listenership can reach the top 20, overshadowing more deserving performers who have genuinely earned their following.
