The famed rap musician Nicki Minaj has been targeted yet again in what looks to be a series of swatting episodes.
Following a false report of a shooting at Minaj’s home in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles over the weekend, law enforcement authorities went to her residence.
An anonymous 911 call stating that the rapper had been shot spurred the emergency reaction.
Officers soon discovered that the report was a hoax and that Minaj was unharmed when they arrived.
This is the second time Minaj has been the victim of such a prank in recent months. The Los Angeles Police Department had previously responded to a false call alleging child abuse involving Minaj’s 2-year-old son in June.
The claim was quickly debunked after officers visited the rapper’s home and found no evidence to support the allegations.
The recurrence of these false reports has raised concerns about the safety and privacy of celebrities like Minaj. Swatting is a dangerous and illegal act where individuals make false emergency calls to elicit a large-scale police response, often involving SWAT teams, to a targeted address. Such pranks not only divert essential emergency resources but also pose significant risks to unsuspecting victims and responding officers.
Following the child abuse hoax in June, Minaj reportedly took legal action, hiring attorneys to ensure that those responsible for the false reports are held accountable.
While no arrests have been made in connection with either incident, the continued targeting of the rapper has sparked discussions about the need for stricter penalties for swatting and better protective measures for high-profile individuals.
In the midst of these challenges, Minaj continues to shine in her professional life. She recently celebrated the success of her collaboration “Barbie World” with Ice spice and Aqua for the Barbie movie soundtrack.
The track achieved the highest streaming day for a rap song on Spotify this year, garnering over five million listens. Minaj has also surpassed 60 million listeners on the streaming platform, joining an elite group of artists to achieve this milestone.
As investigations into the swatting incidents continue, fans and fellow artists rally behind Minaj, hoping for a swift resolution and an end to these malicious pranks.
