Sherri Michelle Saum aka Sherri Saum is an actress from the United States. Saum is most recognized for her co-starring role as Lena Adams Foster in the Freeform drama series The Fosters (2013-2018) and a guest appearance in its spinoff Good Trouble (2019-present).

Early Life
Saum (born October 1, 1974). Her parents were German and African-American; she was born in Dayton, Ohio. She started at a Model Search America convention in Kettering, Ohio, near her home.

She was discovered in high school and modeled during her summer vacations until she came to New York to work full-time with the New York modeling firm Images Management.
Education
Saum received his education at Ohio State University in Columbus and New York University in New York.
Career
Saum began her acting career as Vanessa Hart in the N.B.C. daytime serial opera Sunset Beach, which ran from 1997 to 1999. For her participation in the show, she received a Daytime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Younger Actress in a Drama Series in 1999.
Saum was later appointed a series regular in the Showtime comedy-drama series Beggars in 1999.
Saum starred as Natalie in the F.X. drama series Rescue Me from 2006 to 2007. She co-starred with Cicely Tyson and Eriq La Salle in the Hallmark Channel film Relative Stranger. She co-starred with Ally Sheedy and Josh Hamilton in the independent movie Ten Stories Tall.
In season 2 of the HBO drama series In Treatment, she played the series regular character of Bess. Over the next few years, she appeared as a guest star on The C.W.’s Gossip Girl, C.B.S.’s Unforgettable, A.B.C.’s Body of Proof, and Revenge.
Saum was cast as the lead in the A.B.C. drama pilot Grace (written by Krista Vernoff), alongside Abigail Spencer and Eric Roberts, in 2011, but the project was not picked up.
Saum and Teri Polo were cast in the central parts of Jennifer Lopez‘s A.B.C. Family drama series The Fosters in 2012.
The show debuted on June 3, 2013. After five seasons, the show was canceled in 2018. In 2019, she reprised her role in the spinoff Good Trouble.
Her real-life pregnancy was interwoven into the N.B.C. legal drama Law & Order: Special Victims Unit plot in 2014. She appeared on the A.B.C. shows How to Get Away with Murder and “The Mysteries of Laura” in 2015.
She appeared as a guest star on C.B.S.’s “Code Black” in 2016 and on T.N.T.’s “The Librarians” in 2018. After The Fosters ended, Sherri played the adult Regina Louise in the biographical film “I Am Somebody’s Child: The Regina Louise Story” and appeared for three episodes on the A.B.C. Marvel sci-fi series “Agents of S.H. I.E.L.D.”
Sherri returned to Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in March 2022 in a different position than she had portrayed almost exactly eight years before. The following week, she returned to Good Trouble as a state legislator and vibrant sexter, Lena Adams Foster.
