The Federal Government will bring the embattled Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele, before the Federal High Court in Abuja.
He faces a fresh 20-count charge relating to procurement fraud.
The charges include allegations of conspiracy and offering corrupt advantages to his associates.
Emefiele will be arraigned alongside a female CBN employee, Sa’adatu Yaro, and her company, April 1616 Investment Limited.
These charges come just one day after the federal government withdrew a previous charge of illegal possession of firearms against Emefiele in a Lagos court.
One of the specific accusations against Emefiele is conferring corrupt advantages on Yaro, which is an offense punishable by up to five years imprisonment without the possibility of a fine, as per Section 19 of the Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offenses Act 2000.
The accused persons allegedly bought 98 exotic vehicles and armored buses valued at N6.9 billion, including 84 Toyota Hilux, three Toyota Landcruisers, one Toyota Avalon, and 10 armored Mercedes Benz buses, between 2018 and 2020.
The suspended CBN governor has been in detention since his suspension by President Bola Tinubu on June 9.
He was arraigned for alleged possession of illegal firearms before the Federal High Court in Lagos.
