The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has exonerated Tobi Amusan, the current world champion in the women’s 100-meter hurdles, for skipping three tests.
Her participation in the upcoming 2023 World Athletics Championships, which get underway on Saturday in Budapest, Hungary, is now permitted thanks to this clearance.
The Nigerian track and field sensation, aged 26, had been placed under provisional suspension by the AIU in July due to her failure to meet the whereabouts requirements, which necessitate athletes to provide information about their locations for out-of-competition testing.
However, on Thursday, August 17, the AIU officially lifted this suspension, clearing Amusan of any wrongdoing related to whereabouts failures.
Expressing her relief and excitement, Amusan took to her Facebook page to share the news with her followers.
“This morning, I found out that the independent tribunal that heard my case has ruled that I did not violate the whereabouts rules and as a result I will not be sanctioned and none of my results will be precluded.”
“I am thrilled to put this behind me, and I look forward to defending my title at next week’s World Championships. I generally have been and consistently will be an ally of clean sport. To my five fingers, God is the greatest and I genuinely appreciate y’all for the support,” she wrote.
