Godswil Akpabio Stadium to host Super Eagles 2026 World Cup qualifiers

All Super Eagles home fixtures in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers will be held at the Godswil Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) announced this during a visit to Uyo’s Governor, Umo Eno.

The 30,000 seater stadium will also host the Super Eagles’ final 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying fixture against Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday, September 10, 2023.

This stadium previously held all Super Eagles home matches in the 2018 World Cup qualifiers.

The first two rounds of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers will take place from November 13 to 21.

The Super Eagles have been placed in Group D, alongside South Africa, Benin Republic, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, and Lesotho.

The group winners will progress to the 2026 World Cup, which will be hosted by the USA, Canada, and Mexico, while the best runners-up will compete in a playoff for an additional spot for Africa.
