Joseph Aloba, the father of the late singer Ilerioluwa Aloba, better known as Mohbad, has revealed that his ex-wife, who also acted as Mohbad’s initial stepmother, once gave him the ultimatum to choose between Mohbad and her.
Aloba made this disclosure while explaining the meaning behind Mohbad’s lyrics in the song “Sorry.”
He went on to explain that their relationship was complex and that his decision to prioritize Mohbad over her resulted in her leaving the family.
“The stepmother told me one day, ‘Choose me or your son.’ I chose my son (Mohbad) and she packed her loads and left. I and the lady were together for more than seven years. I married her around 2005. That stepmother did not want me to send Mohbad to school, and I chose my son. And she decided to leave,” Aloba said while speaking exclusively with Saturday PUNCH.
Recall that Mohbad died on September 12th 2023 in controversial circumstances. He was buried the next day, September 13th 2023.
Nigerians however demanded for autopsy following startling revelations of him being harassed, bullied and assaulted while he was alive.
