Luis Diaz, the Liverpool winger, has recently faced a distressing situation as his parents were taken hostage in his home country of Colombia.
Currently, his father remains captive while his mother has fortunately been rescued.
The unfortunate incident occurred on Saturday evening when a group of individuals on motorcycles abducted Diaz‘s parents.
The local police and military have taken immediate action, deploying their forces to rescue them.
Thankfully, Diaz’s mother, Cilenis Marulanda, has been successfully freed and is now receiving protection from the authorities.
The Colombian President, Gustavo Petro, confirmed her liberation in a brief statement.
‘In operation padlock in Barrancas, Luis Diaz’s mother has been rescued. We are still searching for the father,” Petro said.
