JUST IN: Senate confirms three new ministerial nominees, Including the man that Collapsed During Screening

The Senate has confirmed the President’s three further cabinet nominees.

The Upper Chamber of the legislature screened and approved Jamila Ibrahim of Kwara State, Abbas Balarabe Lawal of Kaduna State, and Ayodele Olawande of Ondo State.

This is on top of the 45 nominees approved by the Senate in August.

Senate President Godwill Akpabio called for a voice vote on the nominees around two and a half hours after the exercise began at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Senators voted unanimously in support of confirming the three nominees.

Ministerial Nominee Balarabe Resuscitated After Slumping At Screening

Recall that we earlier reported that a ministerial nominee from Kaduna state, Balarabe Abbas Lawal, has been revived by doctors, moments after slumping.

Balarabe, who replaced Mallam Nasir El-Rufai slumped while being vetted by the Senate on Wednesday, October 4. The incident occurred after Balarabe spoke for about 15 minutes.

According to Channels TV, a source in the Senate said Balarabe was suffering from exhaustion and had been taken out of the senate chamber in an ambulance.

Meanwhile, we reported that President Bola Tinubu had replaced former Kaduna state governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, with Balarabe Abbas as a Ministerial nominee.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio revealed this while reading a letter from the president on Tuesday, October 3.
