Swangz Avenue artist Winnie Nwagi is dissatisfied with Next Media for overhyping UB40’s impending show.
She said the hype wasn’t worth it because she expected more than what they were promising.
Last month, Next Media began publicizing the UB40 event. They hadn’t revealed it yet, so they were simply branding it as the next great thing.
The countdown began live on television on the day of the reveal. Because most shows did not take place, one general show with a few guests was put on to reveal the next big thing.
Almost every Ugandan was looking forward to seeing what was revealed. At the time they agreed, Samson Kasumba proclaimed that the UB40 performance would be the next big thing.
It is scheduled on December 21, 2023, at the Kololo airport.
It’s unclear whether that was what people expected, but Winnie Nwagi certainly stated her opinion.
She expressed disappointment since she expected them to bring someone like Beyonce due to the way they touted the unveiling.
According to Winnie Nwagi, the excitement was for naught, and they might have done better in the 15 years that NBS television has been in operation.
