Former Rivers East Senator Lee Maeba has spoken out in response to the Supreme Court’s recent decision recognizing Siminalayi Fubara as the genuine winner of the Rivers State Gubernatorial elections.
He urged folks to gather behind and support the governor so that he can lead the state forward. The ex-senator also urged disgruntled elements not to disrespect the governor, stating that no one would be permitted to use the state as collateral for personal gain or power.
Former Senator Maeba, during an interview with Arise TV said, “This (Supreme Court judgement on Rivers state gubernatorial election) is a victory for the Peoples Democratic Party in Rivers State; Its a victory for Sim Fubara, who the Peoples Democratic Party sponsored.
So, its a victory for all members of our party; And by extension its a victory for the people of Rivers State. And by the Court ruling affirming Fubara as the Governor of Rivers State, all contending issues about the 2023 governorship elections has come to an end.”
He added, “And therefore it is the responsibility of all citizens of Rivers state to pledge their support and loyalty to the governor of the state to enable him to succeed.
Respect for the office is mandatory, irrespective of the occupant of the office. Anyone Disrespecting the Office of the Governor is insulting the people of Rivers State which has severe consequences.
So my appeal to any insatiable man is; Enough is Enough, no one Man will be allowed henceforth to use Rivers State as a Collateral for his selfish and endless pursuit for money and power.”
