Bayern Munich reportedly in talks with Xabi Alonso for managerial role

Bayern Munich has started talks with Xabi Alonso about their vacant head coach vacancy.

This might be a blow to Liverpool’s chances of securing the former star as Jurgen Klopp’s replacement.

Following the decision to break ways with Thomas Tuchel at the end of the season, Bayern Munich is looking for a new manager.

According to Sky Sports, Alonso’s camp has expressed interest in the position, despite Liverpool’s alleged interest in him.

However, any move would require either Bayern Munich or Liverpool to pay Bayer Leverkusen a substantial release fee of £12.8 million as compensation for Alonso’s services.

Alonso has received widespread recognition for his managerial stint at Bayer Leverkusen.

The Spanish gaffer has guided the team to a ten-point lead over Bayern Munich in the Bundesliga title race with just ten games remaining.

Liverpool, who are also eyeing Alonso as a potential replacement for Klopp, will face tough competition if they wish to secure his services.

When asked about the interest from both clubs, Alonso remained diplomatic.

He said, “Bayern, Liverpool? I have nothing new to say. Right now, I’m Bayer Leverkusen coach, and that’s certain. Regarding the future, I have nothing new to say.”
