Grammy-winning South African singer, Tyla, shared that she postponed sending her debut album to her record label due to Nigerian superstar, Tems.

Tyla mentioned that she was ready to submit the album when Tems sent her vocals, prompting her to delay the submission.

During an interview on MTV Live, she praised Tems as the “Queen” of African music.

She revealed that she had been working on her first album for nearly three years before its release.

“I was about to submit the album then Tems sent her verse over and I was like wait, Tems just sent a song, I mean she’s the Queen,” she said.

Tyla’s self-titled debut album, which includes a feature from Tems titled ‘No. 1,’ was launched on Friday.
