According to ESPN, Everton filed an appeal against the two-point deduction imposed by an independent commission earlier in April for violating the Premier League’s Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

This season, the Toffees have already had one sanction reduced on appeal.

The initial 10-point punishment for the same violations during last season’s reporting period was reduced to six.

When the Premier League issued the deduction, Everton stated that they were “extremely concerned by the inconsistency of different commissions in respect of points deductions applied.”

The Merseyside team sits 16th in the Premier League table, two points clear of Luton Town in the final relegation spot.

Premier League regulations stipulate that a club can lose no more than £105 million ($132.54m) over three years. Everton admitted to exceeding that limit by £16.6m to the independent panel.
