When former RFEF President Luis Rubiales returned to Spain, Spanish police detained him for questioning.
Rubiales made headlines in late August last year for kissing a Spanish female football player, Jenni Hermoso, during their title celebration.
However, his interrogation this time is part of ‘Operation Brody,’ which is looking into possible corruption within the Spanish Football Federation, according to Football Espana.
Rubiales has categorically rejected any involvement in corrupt actions throughout his tenure in office, citing the validity of his business dealings and the origin of his riches.
Meanwhile, he had been conducting business in the Dominican Republic until police raided his residence there, prompting his return to Spain.
Upon his arrival at the airport, the Spanish anti-corruption unit boarded his plane to interrogate him.
Subsequently, Rubiales was seen leaving the airport in a police van awaiting him on the runway.
This incident follows a recent police raid on the RFEF headquarters, during which six individuals were brought in for questioning, and five others were placed under suspicion.
Additionally, Rubiales faces separate legal charges, including the allegations of sexual assault for kissing and coercing Hermoso, for which he is scheduled to stand trial.
He has refuted these accusations as well, denying any wrongdoing.
