Joško Gvardiol and Haaland secure vital 2-0 win for City over Nottingham Forest

Manchester City maintained their title aspirations with a 2-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground on Sunday.

The result takes them within one point of Premier League leaders Arsenal.

Despite Forest’s solid performance in the first half, City’s precision strikes were pivotal.

Forest began well, creating numerous possibilities; unfortunately, poor finishing prevented them from capitalizing on their opportunities.

Early in the match, Neco Williams scuffed a close-range effort, while Chris Wood missed an open goal.

City, though quiet in the first half, broke the deadlock with a goal from Joško Gvardiol, who powered a header into the net from De Bruyne’s corner.

Moments into the second half, Gvardiol blocked a massive chance from Wood before Erling Haaland extended City’s lead.

Haaland received a pass from De Bruyne, skillfully evaded Murillo, and slotted the ball into the bottom-left corner.

The victory sets City up well as they prepare to host Wolves in their next outing.

Forest, meanwhile, will turn their focus to the fight against relegation as they travel to face Sheffield United in their upcoming fixture.
