The Defence Headquarters, DHQ, acknowledged on Thursday the occurrence of avoidable professional mistakes made by its Troops during the airstrikes carried out in Tudun Biri Village, Jabi Local Government Area of Katsina State last year, resulting in the unfortunate deaths of several innocent citizens.
In Abuja, the Director of Defence Media Operations, DMO, Major General Edward Buba, addressed Defence Correspondents during the bi-weekly briefing on the current Military Operations conducted by the Armed Forces of Nigeria AFN and other security agencies in different regions to counter insurgency activities.
He revealed that the Military High Command had completed an investigation into the incident, determining that the operation should not have been carried out initially.
He stated, “Our inquiry into the Kaduna Bombing has been finalized, revealing that the operation was a mistake. Consequently, two individuals involved will be subjected to a protection court martial for their actions.”
He, then, tendered unreserved apologies to the victims of the incident and their families on behalf of the Chief of Defence Staff CDS General Musa.
