President Bola Tinubu has condemned the recent attacks by gunmen in Angwan Rukuba, Jos, and Kahir village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.
In a statement issued on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the president described the incidents as senseless acts of violence that led to the killing and abduction of innocent citizens, including wedding guests.
“Anyone who will sneak under the cover of the night and kill citizens as done in Jos and Kahir village is a coward,” Tinubu said.
He stated that the attacks were carried out with the intent to cause harm and incite further violence, assuring Nigerians that those responsible would be identified and brought to justice.
The president directed security agencies to intensify their operations, particularly by acting on intelligence to prevent future attacks. He also emphasized the need to curb the spread of misinformation that could heighten tensions.
Tinubu cautioned against narratives suggesting the attacks were religiously motivated, urging the public to avoid conclusions that could deepen divisions.
“I urge our security agencies to be more proactive in preventing these attacks by acting on early warning intelligence. All the remaining abductees from Kahir village must be rescued,” he added.
The president commended the efforts of Caleb Mutfwang and Uba Sani for their response to the incidents, noting that the federal government will continue to support security interventions in affected areas.
He also expressed condolences to families of victims and wished those injured a speedy recovery, reaffirming the government’s commitment to strengthening the capacity of security agencies to respond effectively to threats across the country.
