Luciano Spalletti will continue to lead Italy’s national team as head coach, according to FIGC President Gabriele Gravina.
This is in spite of their early elimination in the round of 16 of Euro 2024.
Spalletti has been in his position for less than a year, but the Italian federation has stated that it has faith in him.
Speaking to the media from the national team’s Iserlohn, Germany, training camp, Gravina underlined the federation’s dedication to Spalletti.
“We have nothing to hide, but we must continue to take responsibility.
“There was a long chat with the coach yesterday, and I think that it is unthinkable to solve the problems by abandoning a multi-year project after eight to nine months,” he explained.
Gravina also noted the importance of stability and trust in their ongoing project.
“Central to our project is a coach who has been here for nine to ten months, who has not always had all the players available.
“Our trust has to work as there is already a new challenge in 60 days’ time,” he added.
On September 6, Italy will face France in the Nations League.
