BREAKING: Fire gulfs Emir Muhammadu Sanusi’s Palace

The palace of the 16th Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, located at Gidan Rumfa, was recently devastated by a fire.

The fire, which started on a Friday night around 11 pm, consumed a portion of the palace according to a trusted source within the palace.

Situated at Kofar Kudu, the affected palace hosts the Emir’s court sessions every Monday.

It was reported that the perpetrators broke into the palace, lit the fire, and then secured the door before fleeing the scene.

As a result, the throne, air conditioners, and other valuable items were destroyed in the fire.

Munir Sanusi Bayero, the Chief of Staff to the Emir, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Saturday.

He stated, “A fire incident occurred at the outer court of the Palace, Kofar Kudu, on Saturday morning, July 13, 2024. Fortunately, there were no casualties, and the damage was minimal.”

The statement added that the palace is taking measures to ensure the safety and security of the occupants and investigating the cause of the fire to prevent future incidents.

However, the Kano State Fire Service said it wasn’t aware of the incident as no distress call was received in any of its centers about the fire outbreak.
