Afam Osigwe, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), has been elected as the new president of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).
After receiving the highest number of votes in the 2024 NBA election, Osigwe, the former Secretary-General emerged victorious.
In addition, Bridget Ijeoma Edokwe was elected as the association’s Publicity Secretary.
The online voting process took place on Saturday, starting at 12am and ending at 1.59pm. The live results were displayed in real-time for all positions.
Osigwe garnered 20,395 votes, surpassing his closest competitor Tobenna Erojikwe, who received 10,970 votes. Chukwuka Ikwuazom, a former chairman of NBA Lagos Branch (SAN), secured 9,007 votes.
Osigwe will succeed the current president, Yakubu Maikyau, SAN.
