After facing controversy during her time as a Miss South African contestant, Chidimma Adetshina has transitioned to competing in the Miss Universe Nigeria competition as the representative of Taraba State.
Born in Soweto in 2001 to an Igbo father and a Mozambican mother who is now a naturalized South African citizen, Chidimma’s nationality had been questioned during her participation in the Miss South Africa pageant.
In response to the controversy and subsequent investigation by the South African Ministry of Home Affairs, Chidimma Adetshina chose to withdraw from the competition and accepted an invitation to compete in the 2024 Miss Universe Nigeria pageant.
The organisers of the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant announced her participation as Miss Taraba contestant number 25 on their official site.
“Introducing CHIDIMMA ADETSHINA (@chichi_vanessa ) as MISS TARABA STATE,” the organisers wrote.
