Former Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, has revealed why she did not participate in the 2025 edition of Big Brother Naija (BBNaija), despite initially expressing interest in joining.
In a video shared on her X page, she explained that her manager advised against it due to her ongoing reign as Miss Universe Nigeria.
“I also want to do Big Brother next year. I wanted to do it this year, but my manager said I couldn’t because I’m still Miss Universe Nigeria,” Adetshina said.
The beauty queen had first announced her intentions to join BBNaija in August 2024. However, she ultimately missed the season, which concluded in October with Imisi taking home the N80 million cash prize and a brand-new SUV.
Reflecting on her time in Nigeria, Adetshina said, “I really enjoyed my stay in Nigeria, and even now, like I said, once I get my documents sorted, I am going back. Nigeria was really great for me.” She described the eight months she spent in the country as “amazing” and highlighted the abundant opportunities awaiting her.
In November 2024, Adetshina announced a break from pageantry to focus on her education, modeling, and acting career.
“There are so many things I would like to try … runways, acting, and explore many other areas,” she explained, noting that pageantry had sometimes been “traumatic” and emphasizing the importance of prioritizing her mental health. She also acknowledged the pressures of maintaining a public presence on social media.
Although she missed BBNaija 2025, Adetshina confirmed she plans to participate in the 2026 edition, stating, “I really feel there’s more to explore, and I want to establish who Chidimma truly is.” With her focus now on building her brand and balancing studies, modeling, and acting, fans are eagerly anticipating her eventual debut on the popular reality show.
