David De Gea, the new goalkeeper for Fiorentina, has finally revealed the reasons behind his extended search for a new club.

After leaving Manchester United in the summer of 2023, De Gea took over a year to find a new team despite being linked to multiple clubs.

He recently returned to football after signing a short-term contract with Fiorentina and has now shared insights into his hiatus.

“Man United is a top, top club and my heart will always be there.

“I never thought about retiring, it was just difficult to find motivation for a new chapter after 12 years at a top club like Man United.

“I finally felt that at Fiorentina,” he said.
