Manchester City may face a points deduction so harsh that it could lead to their relegation from the top tier of English football.
The club is accused of 115 separate violations of financial regulations, and a 10-week hearing is set to start next month.
Despite denying any wrongdoing, Manchester City is preparing to undergo an independent investigation.
However, according to The Times, one Premier League club executive said: “The collective view I’ve heard is that an appropriate sanction would have to be a points deduction so substantial — we are talking here between 70 and 80 points — that it guarantees City a season in the Championship.”
