The potential move of Victor Osimhen from Napoli to Chelsea on transfer deadline day has collapsed. The Nigeria international, who was seeking a wage package exceeding £300,000-a-week, was unable to reach a compromise with either club.
Chelsea attempted to continue negotiations with the striker, but received no response, leading to the deal being called off.
Italian sports journalist, Fabrizio Romano, reports that negotiations between Napoli and Chelsea collapsed late in the window.
“No agreement between Victor Osimhen and Chelsea even after a new proposal was presented two hours ago. Deal completely off for Victor Osimhen. No agreement with Chelsea, and the #CFC delegation is now leaving Napoli.
“If nothing happens from Saudi in the next three days, Osimhen will stay at Napoli but he’s not gonna be part of the first-team squad. Relationship currently completely broken,” Romano wrote on his social media platforms.
In the meantime, Napoli was in talks with Al-Ahli for a proposed €80 million transfer deal, with Osimhen agreeing to personal terms with the Saudi club for €30 million per season.
However, Napoli’s demand for an additional €5 million in bonuses caused the deal to fall apart. Osimhen now finds himself in a state of uncertainty regarding his future.
