Reports have emerged that Kunle Wizeman Ajayi, the Governorship candidate of the African Action Congress, AAC, in the upcoming gubernatorial election in Ondo State, has been taken into custody by the Nigeria Police Force.
Ajayi, who is also a member of the Take It Back Movement, was apprehended in Akure during a large protest against hunger and hardship.
Along with another activist, Patrick Owolabi, Ajayi was arrested during the ongoing demonstration.
The Take It Back Movement, a human rights advocacy organization, announced the arrest on their official social media platform while calling for the immediate release of the two individuals.
The post reads, “It’s unfortunate that the @PoliceNG is yet to learn.
“The continued clampdown on peaceful #EndBadGovernceInNigeria protesters is a total shame.
“We condemn the unlawful arrest of Ajayi Wizeman & Patrick Owolabi in Ondo state and we demand their immediate and unconditional release!”
