Rema receives royal plaque from Oba of Benin

The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, bestowed a royal plaque upon afrobeats sensation Rema during his visit to the palace in Benin City.

The gift was presented in anticipation of Rema’s upcoming concert at Ogbe Stadium.

The day before, Rema participated in the groundbreaking ceremony of Edo Arena alongside Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki.

The governor revealed that the arena, to be named Rema Dome in the singer’s honor, would have a capacity of 6,000.

A proud ambassador of Edo State, thee Mavin Record singer continually pays tribute to his hometown in his music, most notably in his hit song ‘Benin Boys’ featuring Shallipopi.

In the lyrics, the singer expressed his desire for recognition from the Oba for his efforts in showcasing the rich heritage of the ancient Benin empire.
