Dame Patience Jonathan, the former First Lady, has revealed that her husband, former President Goodluck Jonathan, will not be running for the presidential election in 2027.
She stated that he has already held the highest political office in Nigeria and does not have any further political aspirations.
During a meeting with the Greater Igbo Forum in Abuja, she highlighted Jonathan’s previous political achievements and pledged his support for President Bola Tinubu‘s administration.
According to Patience Jonathan: “My husband has reached the pinnacle of political office. What is he looking for again? We are not going in again.”
She also called on the Igbo people to unite and focus on the collective good rather than personal or political differences.
“We should love this country more than ourselves. Because if you don’t love this country, what is the future of our children?” she queried.
She also urged the Igbo community to set aside politics and work towards unity and development.
“Let us manage one another. Let us love ourselves. Let us be united and be our brother’s keepers,” she added.
