Prominent activist and founder of Citizens Hub, Aisha Yesufu, has clarified that she will oppose Peter Obi if he chooses to run as Vice President in the 2027 presidential election.

In a video statement released on Monday, Yesufu questioned why Nigerians often push for the best candidates to take secondary roles, expressing dissatisfaction with Obi’s idea of serving under another candidate.

This declaration follows an earlier report where Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, expressed openness to collaborating with other politicians, including Rabiu Kwankwaso of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP). Obi emphasized that any collaboration must be centred on improving citizens’ lives rather than just winning elections.

Though Obi has mentioned his willingness to work alongside others, he clarified that his priority is not to hold a specific office but to ensure that Nigeria works efficiently.

However, in response to speculations about him considering a vice-presidential role, Obi firmly debunked such claims on his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating that his focus remains on addressing pressing issues in the country rather than on political positioning for 2027.
