Manchester United is considering demolishing Old Trafford in favor of building a new £2 billion mega stadium, which has been proposed by new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe.
Ratcliffe has assembled the Old Trafford Regeneration Task Force, with members including Lord Coe and Gary Neville, to work towards this goal.
The plan is to construct a 100,000-seater stadium, referred to as a potential ‘Wembley of the North’.
Initially, it was suggested that Old Trafford would be downsized and maintained for the club’s history, with a new stadium built nearby. However, reports now indicate that the iconic stadium may be demolished instead, as preserving a scaled-back version is deemed impractical and costly.
