Manchester United’s captain, Bruno Fernandes, has been given a three-match suspension after receiving a red card during the match against Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday.
Fernandes was shown a red card for a high challenge on James Maddison towards the end of the first half.
As a result, he will be absent for the upcoming game against Aston Villa next Sunday in the Premier League.
Following the international break, Bruno Fernandes will also miss matches against Brentford and West Ham. However, he will be able to play against FC Porto in the Europa League on Thursday.
This incident marks the Captain’s first red card since joining Manchester United.
He becomes only the fourth United captain to be sent off in a Premier League game at Old Trafford, following Roy Keane in April 2001 against Manchester City, Nemanja Vidic in March 2014 against Liverpool, and Wayne Rooney in September 2014 against West Ham.
