Sean Combs was arrested in New York on Monday night after being indicted by a grand jury on unspecified charges.
He was taken into federal custody at the FBI office in Manhattan.
The reasons for his arrest are still unknown, but he has faced multiple civil lawsuits in the past year, including one from his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura accusing him of rape and abuse.
Additionally,Sean Combs is currently under federal criminal investigation following raids on his homes conducted by authorities in March.
The most recent lawsuit against him was filed last week by former Danity Kane singer, Dawn Richard, who claimed Combs “manipulated” her into thinking that “abuse and exploitation were required for female artists to succeed in the music industry.” She also claims she witnessed the singer abuse Ventura on multiple occasions.
Combs’ lawyer, Marc Agnifilo, issued a statement saying, “We are disappointed with the decision to pursue what we believe is an unjust prosecution of Mr. Combs by the U.S. Attorney’s Office.” He added that Diddy “is an imperfect person but is not criminal. To his credit Mr. Combs has been nothing but cooperative with this investigation and he voluntarily relocated to New York last week in anticipation of these charges. Please reserve your judgment until you have all the facts. These are the acts of an innocent man with nothing to hide, and he looks forward to clearing his name in court.”
