Yul Edochie, a Nollywood actor and failed presidential candidate, has expressed grief over boxer Anthony Joshua’s recent defeat at Wembley Stadium.
Joshua was knocked out in the fifth round by his opponent, Daniel Dubois, during their heavyweight fight on Saturday, allowing Dubois to maintain his IBF heavyweight title.
The battle, which took place in front of a big audience of 96,000 at Wembley Stadium, saw a dominant performance by Dubois, who knocked Joshua four times before landing the critical punch in the fifth round—a hard right to the chin that terminated the bout.
During his post-match news conference, Joshua pondered on his loss, attributing it to a series of blunders throughout the fight.
Yul commented on it on his Instagram page, saying he believes Anthony is already weary of boxing.
He observed that he never appeared to take the fight seriously throughout the build-up to the about. Though he remains a fan of the legendary fighter, he admits that the loss hurts him.
“No disrespect to Anthony Joshua, but e be like boxing don tire am sef.
All through the build-up to the match, he never looked like he took the fight seriously.
Still a fan of AJ.
But the result pain me.
E pain me”.
