From the outrage that followed his contentious weigh-in on non-entrepreneurs to his unexpected separation announcement with actress-singer Halle Bailey, DDG has been on the wrong end of headlines all week.
As everyone from social media commenters to podcasters and beyond continues to weigh in on the latter topic, the rapper/Web personality (born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr.) appears to be setting the tone for the coming week, especially after his fiery response to Joe Budden’s take on the events.
Taking to a recent episode of ‘The Joe Budden Podcast,’ the ‘Pump It Up’ hitmaker didn’t play down his elation over the Granberry-Bailey breakup.
“I’m happy they’ve broken up, so I don’t get to keep seeing this n***a’s name attached to this girl’s name, and I don’t know him for nothing as a stand-alone, and for me, it’s important based on their own name and merit and what they have done,” he said (as heard above) before relaying, “Every time I see his name, it’s attached to hers, and it’s typically in some clout chaser fashion. So that makes me look at him a different way, and hopefully, I get to look at him a lot less now that they’ve broken up.”
Elsewhere in the episode, Budden made an NSFW reference to a viral comment Granberry allegedly said in the past that made many believe he was questioning Bailey’s sexual prowess at the time.
Needless to say, once word got to DDG’s desk he unleashed a set of responses. See highlights below.
