Augustine Eguavoen, the Super Eagles’ caretaker coach, is upbeat ahead of Nigeria’s critical Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya.
While acknowledging the Mediterranean Knights as a formidable opponent, Eguavoen is confident that his squad would prevail in Friday’s encounter in Uyo.
The Super Eagles top Group D with four points from two games, establishing themselves as favorites.
However, Eguavoen emphasized that Libya, which is at the bottom of the group with one point, will be determined to battle for a win.
“They are aware of their position, and we are aware of ours,” Eguavoen said in an interview with the Super Eagles media team.
“They will come here and fight, but our focus is on securing the three points.”
Eguavoen praised his squad’s preparedness, mentioning that there are no injuries, and all players are in high spirits ahead of the match.
“It’s going to be tough, but the boys are in good spirit. Everyone is ready,” he added.
With three points in their sights, Nigeria hopes to strengthen it position in the race for AFCON 2025 qualification.
