Pastor Emmanuel Iren has criticized Peter Obi’s plan to convert night vigils into night shifts, saying it is wrong.
According to Iren, Nigerians attend vigils due of a lack of employment possibilities, not because of their religious convictions.
He questioned Obi’s reasoning, asking if he would also criticize individuals for squandering “economic hours” at the gym or chatting with friends.
Iren stated that Obi’s remarks were unacceptable, particularly given his official history. He referred to Obi’s suggestion as “gaslighting.” The preacher emphasized that if the government created more jobs, Nigerians would not have to rely on prayers and vigils to deal with economic hardship.Obi’s initial comments stemmed from frustration with Nigeria’s widespread poverty and low productivity, which he attributed to the nation’s focus on politics and religion. He suggested that time spent attending night vigils could be better spent working.
What’s your take on Pastor Emmanuel Iren reply to Peter Obi on the vigil conversation?
