Port Harcourt Refinery begins loading petroleum products to trucks

Port Harcourt Refinery commences production

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has officially announced that the Port Harcourt Refinery commenced the dispatch of petroleum products on Tuesday, shortly after the facility resumed crude oil production.

NNPCL disclosed this information during a commissioning and product rollout ceremony held on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

According to a statement released by the company, trucks have initiated the loading of petroleum products, including gasoline, diesel, and kerosene, while additional products are also slated for dispatch.

During a brief ceremony marking the initiation of product loading at the refinery on Tuesday in Port Harcourt, Group CEO Mele Kyari characterized the launch of loadout activities as a significant milestone for Nigeria.

He remarked that this development represents a new chapter of energy autonomy and economic advancement for the nation.

Kyari commended President Bola Tinubu for his steadfast support and understanding regarding the rehabilitation initiative and for his determination to ensure energy security for the nation.

He further conveyed his profound gratitude to the NNPCL Board of Directors and the entire workforce for their dedication and commitment, which culminated in the revitalization of the refinery.

This announcement follows a statement from NNPCL spokesperson Olufemi Soneye, who indicated that the refinery has commenced crude oil production.

The state-owned enterprise declared that the facility will operate at 60 percent capacity, facilitating a production rate of 60,000 barrels of crude oil per day.

The company also indicated that the Warri Refinery is poised to commence production shortly.

However, it did not provide any details regarding the timeline for the resumption of operations at the Kaduna Refinery.
