Apple has begun integrating OpenAI’s ChatGPT into its devices through its latest iOS update, a move poised to enhance user experiences and boost holiday sales of its latest iPhones.
The rollout brings AI-powered tools to iPhones, iPads, and Macs, with Siri now leveraging ChatGPT’s advanced capabilities. Tasks like analyzing photos, refining documents, and generating creative content can be performed seamlessly. Writing Tools powered by ChatGPT also allow users to create content and enhance visual projects.
The integration is available on iPhone 16 models, the Pro and Pro Max versions of the iPhone 15 series, and iPads and Macs equipped with A17 Pro or M1 chips or newer.
In addition to ChatGPT, Apple is expanding language support. Localized English is now available in countries like Australia, Canada, and the U.K. Additional languages, including Chinese, French, and Spanish, will be rolled out throughout the year, starting with an April update.
Apple first announced its AI strategy, branded Apple Intelligence, in June at the Worldwide Developers Conference. This suite includes features like text summarization and personalized animations. CEO Tim Cook described these innovations as transformative, stating that users’ information will remain private and that ChatGPT access will be free.
