FG threatens sanctions against airlines for unnecessary flight delays

The Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), on behalf of the Federal Government, has announced plans to penalize airlines that unnecessarily delay flights, urging travelers to stay informed about potential challenges when flying.

Michael Achimugu, the Head of Consumer Protection at NCAA, made this announcement during a road walk in Port Harcourt, Rivers state capital.

He emphasized that as peak travel season approaches, it is important for travelers to understand the reasons for flight delays and how these issues can be addressed.

“We’re now in the high travel season in aviation and as you know there’s been a lot of flight disruptions as well as a lot of complaints.

“Our duty at NCAA is to sensitize our passengers because most of the time when complaints come about these disruptions, it comes from a place of poor knowledge about their rights and responsibilities as air passengers.

“We must protect both the passenger and the airline,” Achimugu stated.
