Grimes has denied claims that she was “dumped” by her ex-boyfriend Elon Musk, a billionaire.
The Canadian singer, who has three children with the Tesla CEO, set the record straight about their relationship following remarks made by rapper Azealia Banks on Musk’s platform X.
Banks, who has a history of feuding with Grimes, accused her of trying to portray her negatively by commenting on a modified image of the musical “Wicked” where Grimes was portrayed as Glinda the Good and Banks as Elphaba.
“Girl the way u are still trying to hold out on some weird a** innocent bulls**t years later after u got dumped, cheated on, ur kids kidnapped (sic),” the 212 rapper added on Thursday.
In response, Grimes, real name Claire Boucher, set the record straight and claimed it was her that left Musk.
“It’s just a funny joke bro. not trying to paint u as a villain. i didn’t ‘get dumped’. I bounced. My amazing baby is asleep in my bed beside me, I’m in love. no regrets. Life is as beautiful as u want it to be (sic),” she wrote. “Ur insanely talented. even after all this, I want u to win. god bless Mlady (sic).”
When a user called Banks “problematic”, Grimes replied, “She is the best hater on the planet. The da Vinci of insults. At a point I just gave up and accepted that I appreciate the madness of existence.”
Grimes and Musk were in an on-again, off-again relationship for four years until 2022. They are currently involved in a custody dispute over their three children: sons X Æ A-Xii, Techno Mechanicus, and daughter Exa Dark Sideræl.
Musk, who has six children from his marriage to Justine Wilson and three with Neuralink executive Shivon Zilis, has also been a part of this ongoing family issue.
