Nigerian activist and humanitarian Martins Vincent Otse, widely recognized by the moniker Verydarkman (VDM), has sorrowfully resorted to social media to unveil a significant setback in his commendable pursuit to effectuate positive change in lives.
In a startling pronouncement, he disclosed that his NGO account, which had recently garnered over ₦200 million in contributions for his virtuous endeavor, was compromised, resulting in an astonishing theft of ₦160 million—a situation he articulated as incomprehensible.
This profoundly distressing disclosure arrives mere weeks after VeryDarkMan articulated his visionary aspirations to establish educational institutions for underprivileged children deprived of fundamental learning opportunities.
His vision resonated deeply with many, including prominent figures, who united in support of him, contributing generously to the initiative. The NGO account emerged as a symbol of hope, representing the potential for a brighter future for innumerable children.
In a video disseminated on his official Facebook page on December 27, a visibly shaken VeryDarkMan recounted the alarming moment he became aware of the security breach.
In spite of the overwhelming sense of loss, he affirmed his commitment to relentless efforts until the misappropriated funds are recovered.
True to his commitment, VeryDarkMan disclosed that he has initiated a comprehensive investigation into the cyber theft. In the video, he was accompanied by a security professional assigned to the case. He revealed that they were en route to Jos, a crucial site in the ongoing pursuit of the alleged offenders.
VDM further indicated that prior to making this public disclosure, he had already undertaken steps to secure the account, including disabling the application in an effort to address the issue discreetly. However, the circumstances compelled him to inform his supporters, as the situation necessitated immediate transparency.
