Hillary Clinton, former Secretary of State of the United States, has expressed concerns about Elon Musk’s influence on the spending drama in Congress.
House Democrats are accusing “Extreme MAGA” Republicans of pushing for a government shutdown.
“If you’re just catching up: the Republican Party, taking orders from the world’s richest man, is on course to shut down the government over the holidays.
“Stopping paychecks for our troops and nutrition benefits for low-income families just in time for Christmas,” Hillary Clinton wrote in a post on X.
If a deal is not reached by midnight Saturday, there will be a partial government shutdown. Musk has been vocal in opposing the original spending deal negotiated by House Speaker Mike Johnson with Democrats.
The world’s richest man has threatened to support primary challengers against any Republicans who vote for the deal. Meanwhile, House Republicans have proposed a new, shorter version of the deal which includes disaster aid and a suspension of the debt ceiling for two years, as requested by President-elect Donald Trump.
