Donald Trump, the President-elect of the United States, has chosen Kashyap Patel, a longtime ally, to be the next director of the FBI.
In a post on Truth Social on Saturday, Trump revealed Patel’s appointment.
“Kash is a brilliant lawyer, investigator, and ‘America First’ fighter who has spent his career exposing corruption, defending Justice, and protecting the American People,” Trump’s statement read
“He played a pivotal role in uncovering the Russia, Russia, Russia Hoax, standing as an advocate for truth, accountability, and the Constitution,” Trump wrote.
Patel, who is an attorney with a background in national security, intelligence, and counterterrorism, has been a vocal critic of the FBI.
According to Fox News, Patel played a role in exposing the surveillance of the Trump campaign during Trump’s first term.
He has also been involved in Trump’s transition team, offering advice on other appointments.
