Adele accused of making £6 million mansion ‘unsellable’ due to ‘haunted’ claim

Adele

Nicholas Sutton, the current owner of a £6 million mansion in West Sussex, claims that Adele’s comments about the property being haunted have negatively impacted its sale potential.

Despite living there for only six months in 2012, the singer’s statement that the mansion was “quite scary” has led to rumors of hauntings that have deterred potential buyers for over a decade.

Sutton’s efforts to sell the 10-bed property have been continuously unsuccessful, with a recent sale falling through once the potential buyer heard about its alleged haunted status.

Speaking to The Independent, Sutton declared, “Unfortunately, during an interview on CBS, Adele remarked that she believed the house to be haunted.

“This comment negatively impacted future marketing efforts and continues to affect the property’s reputation to this day.”

The frustrated seller said, “The only offer received over the years was in August 2020, but the prospective buyer withdrew after learning about the property’s supposed haunted status, which was publicly mentioned by Adele during her tenancy.”

In light of this, Sutton is now seeking permission from the local council to convert the property into flats, as he deems it “unsellable” in its current state. The planning application is currently pending approval by Horsham District Council.
