Ruben Amorim, the manager of Manchester United, has stated that he would rather have the club’s goalkeeper coach on the bench than Marcus Rashford.
This public criticism comes after Rashford was left out of the squad for the 1-0 win against Fulham, with Lisandro Martinez scoring the only goal of the match.
Rashford has not been included in a Premier League matchday squad for almost two months, with Amorim expressing his frustration at the 27-year-old’s lack of commitment and attitude.
As the January transfer window approaches, Amorim has made it clear that unless Rashford’s behavior improves, his status within the United squad will not change.
“It’s always the same reason: the training, the way I see a footballer should do in life. It’s every day, every detail,” Amorim said after the game at Fulham.
“If things don’t change, I will not change. It’s the same situation for every player, if you do the maximum and right things we can use every player.
“You can see on the bench we miss a bit of pace on the bench. But I would put [Man Utd goalkeeper coach Jorge] Vital before a player who doesn’t give the maximum every day.”
