Coldplay sets new record for largest stadium show

Coldplay’s tour becomes first rock tour to gross over $1 billion

Coldplay has established a new benchmark for the most extensive stadium performance of the 21st century.

The ensemble captivated an audience exceeding 111,000 attendees nightly at the Narendra Modi Stadium located in Ahmedabad, India. This two-night engagement represented the inaugural occasion on which Coldplay has performed within the nation.

This achievement marginally surpasses the previous record held by country music luminary George Strait, who in June attracted a crowd of 110,905 fans in Texas. Strait’s concert shall maintain the distinction of the largest stadium concert within the United States.

In contrast, Taylor Swift’s most substantial Eras performance occurred at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in Melbourne, Australia, on 16 February 2024, where she entertained an audience of 96,000.

Coldplay’s tour in India is a component of the band’s extensive Music of the Spheres World Tour, which commenced in March 2022, achieving complete sellouts in stadiums across five continents.

As per data compiled by Billboard Boxscore, this global expedition has achieved unprecedented ticket sales, totaling 10.3 million as of December.Approximately half of the tour’s 175 performances have taken place in Europe, where 5.2 million tickets were purchased across 87 concerts.

The Music of the Spheres World Tour is slated to resume in April, featuring performances in Hong Kong, China, and Seoul prior to returning to the United States and Canada.

The tour is presently anticipated to culminate with 10 sold-out performances at Wembley Stadium in London during August and September 2025.
