Will Smith announces title and release month for comeback album

Will Smith Shuts Down Rumors About Role in Upcoming ‘Matrix’ Movie After Cryptic Post

Will Smith is poised to re-enter the realm of music through his rapping endeavors. Indeed, this assertion holds substantial validity.

The Academy Award-winning actor has been contemplating the release of new musical compositions throughout the entirety of the 2020s.

He has provided contributions in the form of guest verses and has also released tracks where he occupies the role of the primary artist. However, it remained uncertain whether Will Smith would genuinely execute the production of a new album. It has been two decades since his last major project.

Nevertheless, the conjecture surrounding this matter reached a conclusion on Thursday. Smith is set to unveil a new album, and audiences will not have to endure an extended wait to experience it.

Will Smith has officially announced that the title of his forthcoming album will be Based on a True Story. This endeavor will signify his inaugural LP release since Lost and Found, which was launched in 2005.

Additionally, it will include the single that was released in conjunction with the announcement, entitled “Beautiful Scars.” This particular single incorporates guest verses by OBanga and Big Sean, the latter of whom appeared in a Matrix-themed promotional video just days earlier.

Although Based on a True Story lacks a specific release date, Uproxx has reported that the album is anticipated to be available on streaming services and in retail outlets sometime in March. Audiences can expect to receive fresh Will Smith tracks in less than two months.

The aforementioned outlet has verified that the singles released by Smith over the past few years will also be included in the album.

The tracks “You Can Make It,” “Tantrum,” and “Work of Art” are all projected to feature on the album’s tracklist. The third song will showcase verses contributed by Russ and Will Smith’s son, Jaden.

Conversely, “Tantrum” is expected to incorporate a verse from another Smith protégé, Joyner Lucas. The two artists previously collaborated on the remix of Lucas’s single “Will.” The dominant theme present in these singles has revolved around positivity.

In light of his notorious altercation with Chris Rock at the Academy Awards, Will Smith has been engaged in a process of damage control.
