2027: I am not desperate for presidential ticket – Peter Obi

Peter Obi Clarifies Stance on Coalition, Emphasizes Purpose-Driven Leadership

The Labour Party’s presidential candidate for the 2023 election, Peter Obi, has adamantly denied displaying any signs of desperation for a ‘free ticket’ or ‘special treatment’ for the 2027 election.

His statement was conveyed by his media aide, Ibrahim Umar, in response to recent claims made by the LP’s National Publicity Secretary, Obiora Ifoh, stating that the party had no plans to nominate Obi, Abia State Governor Alex Otti, or any other 2023 candidates for the next election.

This rebuttal comes shortly after factional LP National Publicity Secretary Abayomi Arabambi announced the party’s intentions to nominate the former Anambra State governor to thwart President Bola Tinubu’s bid for re-election. However, when questioned about the potential nomination of Obi for the 2027 election, Obiora Ifoh denied these claims.

Ifoh emphasized that the information being circulated was inaccurate and could not have originated from the party.

He said, “Our principal, Peter Obi, remains steadfast in his commitment to democracy and the well-being of all Nigerians. He has consistently championed the importance of good democracy, and healthy competition, recognizing that these elements are essential for a thriving democratic setting.
