Anabela Rungo, mother of beauty queen and model Chidimma Adetshina, has been granted bail by the Cape Town Magistrate’s Court following her arrest on allegations of identity fraud and immigration violations.
According to Sowetan LIVE, Rungo was arrested on February 15 in Summer Greens, Cape Town, after authorities discovered she was living with a revoked ID and had allegedly committed identity fraud to obtain citizenship.
During court proceedings, an immigration officer testified that Rungo had ignored a warning letter issued in September 2024, notifying her that her ID number would be revoked. She had been allowed to contest the decision but failed to respond.
Despite claims that no arrest warrant had been issued, Rungo has declared her innocence and vowed to plead not guilty.
Bail Conditions & Case Update:
Magistrate Sadiqah Guendouz approved Rungo’s release on R10,000 bail under strict conditions:
- She will remain under house arrest, only permitted to leave for court appearances or legal consultations.
- Immigration officers and police will monitor her movements.
The case has been postponed to May 8 for further investigation.
